Scheduling places a Class on specific dates, times, Teachers and Classrooms.
The current Scheduling capability supports:
Weekly CycleBi-weekly CycleClass Sessionfor a single scheduled Session
Class Session is the current UI wording for a one-time Session on a specific date. The exact options shown can vary by Scheduling entry point.
Before Scheduling
Complete the required setup first:
- Course;
- Class;
- Teacher / Staff;
- Classroom;
- Students who should be assigned to the Class.
If Artstep reports that a Teacher or Classroom is missing, complete that setup before continuing.
Add a Schedule
You can schedule from the Scheduling section in Class Details or from the Schedule / Timetable page.
Complete the fields required for the selected Scheduling Method, such as:
- Class;
- Class Date;
- Class Time;
- Teacher;
- Classroom;
- recurrence rule or One-time session;
- Start Date / End Date for recurring schedules.
Weekly Cycle
Use Weekly Cycle for a Class that meets on fixed weekdays every week.
Select:
- weekdays;
- Class Time;
- Teacher;
- Classroom;
- the schedule date range.
Bi-weekly Cycle
Use Bi-weekly Cycle for a Class that repeats every other week.
The setup is similar to Weekly Cycle, but Artstep creates sessions according to the bi-weekly rule.
Class Session / One-time Session
Use Class Session for a single Session.
Select the date, time, Teacher and Classroom, then save.
Credit Hours and Absent Settings
Scheduling can also define:
- Student Credit Hours per session;
- Teacher Teaching Hours;
Absent (Counted)behavior;- Teaching Assistant hour-counting behavior.
Important:
- Attendance and Credit Consumption are not the same concept;
- whether an absence consumes Credit Hours depends on the configured rule;
- By Term Students are not charged by Credit Hours, so Credit Hour deduction settings do not apply to them in the same way.
Conflict Detection
Artstep checks Scheduling conflicts including:
- Scheduling / time conflict;
- Class conflict;
- Teacher conflict;
- Classroom conflict.
When a conflict is detected, the current system can offer:
Return to Edit;Ignore Conflict.
Ignore Conflict does not mean that no conflict exists. It is an explicit decision to save despite a known conflict. Use it only after confirming the real-world teaching arrangement.
Other rules
- Class End Time must be later than Start Time.
- The Teacher and Teaching Assistant cannot be the same person.
- If the schedule end date changes, review the conflict result again.
