Manual Deduction is designed for activities that do not have a normal Schedule but still need Student Credit Hour consumption to be recorded.

The current product gives examples such as:

  • school events;
  • competitions;
  • performances;
  • classes or activities without fixed Class Scheduling.

Set up a Deduction Type first

To keep Credit Hour records consistent, configure a Manual Deduction Type before using the feature.

A Deduction Type can define the Class Hours to Record so staff can follow a consistent rule.

Perform Manual Deduction

In Artstep Pro or a Web surface that supports Manual Deduction:

  1. select the Course for Deduction;
  2. select the Deduction Type;
  3. select the Students;
  4. set the Credit Hours to deduct per selected Student for this operation;
  5. if Teaching Hours should also be recorded, select the Teachers and set the Teaching Hours per selected Teacher for this operation;
  6. set the Deduction Time;
  7. add Notes;
  8. review and confirm.

Teacher Teaching Hours

When Teachers are selected, the current product records the manual hours in their Teaching Hours.

If no Teacher is selected, no Teacher hours are recorded.

This action cannot be undone

The current product explicitly warns that Manual Deduction:

  • deducts Student Credit Hours;
  • affects the related Tuition / consumption;
  • creates a Consumption Record;
  • cannot be undone.

Before confirming, review at least:

  • Course;
  • Student;
  • Credit Hours;
  • Deduction Type;
  • Deduction Time.

Note for By Term Courses

Manual Deduction is fundamentally a Credit Hour deduction action.

If the selected Course is By Term, do not use Manual Deduction simply as an Attendance substitute. Confirm that the business scenario should actually create Credit Hour consumption.
