The Student record is the foundation for Enrollment, Classes, Scheduling, Attendance, Tuition and Artstep Student access.
Add a Student
In Student management in Artstep Web, click Add Student.
Complete the relevant student information, such as:
NameNicknameGenderDoBStart DateTagsSchool AttendingResidential AreaAdvisorNotes
Depending on your school's needs, you can also record an avatar, height, weight, ID number and other details.
Add Contacts
Use the Contact section to add parents or other contacts.
Contact information includes:
RelationshipNameMobile NumberEmail
Multiple contacts can be added. The first contact is treated as the primary contact and is displayed prominently in Student lists and related views.
In the Student Details editing flow, each contact must have at least a phone number or an email address.
When creating a Student from the Enrollment wizard, follow the fields marked as required in that workflow; the current Enrollment flow prompts for a contact phone number.
Why Contacts matter
Contact information is used both for school-family communication and for Artstep Student access/binding.
Make sure that:
- phone numbers and email addresses are accurate;
- the registration phone number used for Artstep Student linking is correct;
- contact details belong to the correct family member;
- changed phone numbers or email addresses are updated promptly.
The current Artstep Student interface explicitly instructs users to add/link Student accounts using the registration phone number recorded by the school.
Edit a Student
Open Student Details and click Edit.
Make the changes and click Save.
Student Details also gives access to information such as:
- Course
- Attendance
- Tuition
- Communications
- Highlights
- other enabled services.
Be careful when deleting a Student
The current system warns that a deleted Student can no longer be found in the system.
Do not use Delete simply because a Student is no longer attending classes. Use the appropriate course lifecycle operation—such as course completion or withdrawal—when that is the actual business situation.
